The recipients of these awards are among BC's brightest in their fields, and their outstanding contributions continue to drive innovation in the province. The Awards were presented at the New Ventures BC Competition Awards Ceremony at the SFU Segal Centre in Vancouver on Thursday, September 23, 2010.

Dr. Rhonda Wideman, UBC's Prevention of Organ Failure Centre of Excellence (PROOF)
The
BCIC Ripples of Hope Award in Biotechnology & Entrepreneurship
supports a graduate student, postdoctorate fellow or postgraduate
collaborating on an entrepreneurship initiative in the biotechnology
industry in BC.
Award Value: $35,000

Emerging
Technology Award:
DuVax, Mr. Barry Duplantis and Mr. Neil Duplantis
The Emerging Technology Award recognizes a
new venture at the pre-investment stage that has developed an
innovative technology in BC. The technology must demonstrate proof of
concept and have strong potential for global commercialization.

Value: Up to $25,000 towards commercialization services

Entrepreneurship
Fellow Award:
Dr. Bozena Kaminska, SFU Professor, Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Wireless Sensor Networks
The Entrepreneurship Fellow Award recognizes a
faculty member at a BC postsecondary institution who is a leader in
technology innovation and commercialization.
Award Value: $25,000 for entrepreneurship education or commercialization initiatives
