BCIC-New Ventures Competition - GreenScene AgriTek

Posted Monday, 22 August 2011 00:00 by Lindsay Thom

Congratulations to GreenScene AgriTek for progressing to the 3rd round of this year's BCIC-New Ventures Competition.

Langley's GreenScene AgriTek cleans up used horse bedding with a new technology that reclaims the bedding's wood component so that it can be reused as eco-friendly bedding, free from pathogens, mold spores and odors. It is the first processing system of its kind in North America. Horse farms, equestrian centers and racetracks have limited disposal options for their used horse bedding and there is a shortage of good bedding material available. With this  system, used bedding can be recycled and reused over 35 times, reducing costs by 33 per cent, benefiting the equestrian industry overall and the environment.

The top ten companies advancing to the fourth and final round of the competition will be announced August 31, 2011. The finalists, each vying for a piece of the $375,000 in prize packages, will be awarded September 22, 2011 in Vancouver.
