TeamPages.com: Building a Business in Amateur Sports

This case analyzes TeamPages.com and their formulation of a lucrative business plan. "We're really down to the wire now," said Mike Tan. As the 25-year-old founder and CEO of TeamPages.com scanned his boardroom, every inch of wall was covered in sheets of flipchart paper.

Every sheet was a sea of data, a veritable textbook analysis of every detail of the company's environment, operations, and prospects. But it was May 2008 and the time for analysis was over. At the current burn rate, TeamPages had six weeks' worth of resources left. Investors were ready to provide more cash if Mike had a viable business plan, but which option would really lead to success?

This case allows students to consider a wide variety of revenue models and pushes them to come up with a potentially profitable plan for TeamPages as it moves forward. Competitor analysis and market characteristics are provided for the student to work through in the case problem, but an overall marketing strategy must be considered as well.
