BlogBlogBCIC Mentor Program Welcomes VIATeC as a Participating OrganizationThursday, October 27, 2011
Early-stage companies seeking access to mentors through the BCIC Mentor Program now have a sixth point of entry. BCIC is proud to welcome the Victoria Advanced Technology Council (VIATeC) to the BCIC Mentor Program as its newest Participating Organization. One of eight regional councils supported by BCIC, VIATeC is the conduit that connects people, knowledge and resources to grow a successful technology sector in Greater Victoria. In order to be eligible for a referral to the Mentor Program from VIATeC, entrepreneurs must be members of VIATeC and be an active participant in current VIATeC programs. The BCIC Mentor Program matches early-stage technology CEOs and founders, referred by Participating Organizations, with mentors of strong professional reputation, qualification and experience in the tech industry. Other Participating Organizations include Accelerate Okanagan, ACETECH, BCTIA's Centre4Growth, New Ventures BC and Wavefront. To date, 77 mentors and 51 early-stage tech CEOs and founders are in the program. "VIATeC is excited to partner with the BCIC Mentor Program to provide Victoria's early-stage entrepreneurs with the mentorship to help avoid pitfalls and accelerate the growth and success of their ventures," said Rob Bennett, Launch Pad Program Manager at VIATeC. BCIC is currently recruiting mentors in Victoria, while intake of entrepreneurs will begin in early 2012. Eligible applicants can express their interest in being referred to the BCIC Mentor Program by contacting Rob at LaunchPad@viatec.ca.
