![]() Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 TIAs honoured last night in Vancouver! Among them was BCIC Mentor Program company Kashoo, who we told you about last month - winners of the Most Promising Start-up Award! Kashoo has created the very first online accounting software designed to help small business owners manage their finances. Sold as an app for the iPad, Kashoo makes it easy for business owners with limited accounting experience to perform all bookkeeping and accounting functions from their mobile devices and tablets from anywhere. Over the last 18 months, the Kashoo community has grown to over 30,000 signups and over 5,000 paying customers. Among the others honoured last night included Victoria-based provider of security and utility software for the home PC user, ParetoLogic; providers of high-definition surveillance technology, Avigilon; and Lungpacer, creator of a system designed to preserve the diaphragm and help ventilator-dependent patients breathe. In 2009, Lungpacer was awarded BCIC's Emerging Technology Award and took home the BCIC-New Ventures Competition third place prize. BCTIA also recognized local entrepreneur and Hootsuite founder Ryan Holmes as Person of the Year. Hootsuite is used by 79 of the world's Fortune 100 companies to manage their social media and all signs point to continued growth! All of these plus so many more leading edge technologies were created right here in British Columbia. What's next?
