As far as technology goes, British Columbia deserves a gold medal for consistently demonstrating its strength in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and encouraging commercialization success. For BCIC and the entire province, the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver last month was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to show the world the best we have to offer in technology, innovation and leadership. The world really took notice of BC as one of the greatest places to live, work, play and invest!
Throughout the Olympics, BCIC was part of a number of events designed and executed to encourage business development activities in BC. Overall, important business connections were made between members of the local tech community and international CEOs, Olympic sponsors, media, government delegates and local technology leaders with interest in the areas of research, healthcare, wireless, digital media and sport-related technologies at the following events:
14 Gold Medals, Sledge Hockey and World-Class Sports Technologies
After an incredible display of determination, passion and national pride spread over 17 event-filled days, Canada brought home the most gold medals ever won by one country, showing the world that not only are we fierce sports competitors, but that we are also global leaders in sport innovations.
