In alignment with BCIC's mission to support the development of technology entrepreneurs, BCIC continues to support SFU Venture Connection, strengthening the programs and services available to aspiring technology entrepreneurs in the SFU community - including current students and alumni.
SFU Venture Connection provides resources and opportunities to promote the spirit of technology entrepreneurship within the student body, and to help young technology entrepreneurs succeed. Offering training and support for new technology ventures at all stages from idea conception all the way to business validation, Venture Connection links SFU students, faculty and local entrepreneurs with experienced advisors, funding opportunities and other vital business connections. In 2010, to celebrate excellence in technology entrepreneurship at Venture Connection a new award was established in collaboration with BCIC called the BCIC Student Award for Technology Entrepreneurship.
Venture Connection's key objectives are to:
- Develop a strong entrepreneurial culture throughout the university
- Increase the number of faculty and student spin-off companies
- Accelerate early-stage businesses on- and-off campus
